7 Days Mount Everest Base Camp Trek

Your Everest Base Camp short trek starts with one of the most exciting parts – a scenic flight to Lukla, the gateway to Everest! Early in the morning, we’ll head to the airport and board a small plane for a 40-minute flight filled with breathtaking views of the Himalayas, lush green valleys, and rivers.

Once we land at Lukla Airport, one of the most thrilling airstrips in the world, we’ll take a short break for tea. Here, you’ll also meet your friendly guide and porter who will be with you throughout the trek.

After that, we begin our adventure! Today’s walk is easy and enjoyable. We’ll trek along the Dudh Koshi River, cross hanging bridges, and pass through small Sherpa villages. The trail is peaceful and gives us our first taste of the Everest region.

After a 2–3 hour walk, we reach Phakding, a beautiful village surrounded by pine trees. We’ll check into a cozy tea house and relax for the night.

After a warm breakfast in Phakding, we continue our journey deeper into the heart of the Everest region. Today’s trail takes us through beautiful pine forests, swinging suspension bridges, and traditional Sherpa villages like Monjo and Jorsale.

At Monjo, we’ll enter the Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We’ll stop briefly to show our trekking permits, then hike through the park’s lush forest trails. Keep your eyes open you might spot Himalayan birds, mountain goats, and maybe even a musk deer!

As we follow the Dudh Koshi River and cross a few exciting bridges, the path begins to climb steeply. This is the toughest part of the day, but the reward is worth it. After about 6 hours of walking, we’ll reach the amazing hill town of Namche Bazaar.

Namche is the biggest and most vibrant Sherpa town in the Everest region. It’s the perfect place to rest, explore, and acclimatize to the higher altitude.

After a hearty breakfast in Namche, we begin one of the most scenic days of the Everest Base Camp 7-day trek. The trail starts with a steep climb but rewards us with stunning mountain views, including the majestic Ama Dablam, one of the most beautiful peaks in the world.

We hike through peaceful rhododendron forests and pass yak pastures and Sherpa settlements. As we reach Sansa, you may start to feel the thinner air, so we walk slow and steady to help your body adjust to the altitude.

The trail continues uphill with a mix of rugged paths and forest-covered hills. After 5 to 6 hours of trekking, we arrive at the serene village of Tengboche.

This place is famous for the Tengboche Monastery, the largest Buddhist monastery in the Khumbu region. You’ll see prayer flags, spinning wheels, and hear the sounds of chanting monks. The mountain views from here are absolutely breathtaking, especially at sunset and sunrise.

We begin the day with something truly special, a morning visit to Tengboche Monastery, where you can join the monks for peaceful prayers surrounded by mountain silence. It’s a calming experience that many trekkers remember for life.

After the monastery visit, we hit the trail again. Today, we’ll cover about 7.5 miles (12 km) on our way to Dingboche, a charming Sherpa village at high altitude.

The trek starts with a gentle downhill walk, followed by a river crossing. Then the trail begins a steady uphill climb along a rocky path above the valley. You’ll notice the air getting thinner, and the trees slowly giving way to low alpine shrubs and old stone chortens.

This section has fewer tea houses, so we’ll keep a steady rhythm and take breaks when needed. As we climb higher, the views open up—with more chances to see Ama Dablam, Island Peak, and other snow-capped giants.

After about 6 hours of trekking, we reach Dingboche, a peaceful high-altitude village surrounded by fields and stone walls. It’s a favorite stop for many trekkers to rest and acclimatize.

Today’s trail takes us even higher as we trek toward Lobuche, a remote mountain village near Everest Base Camp. Since it’s a long and challenging day, we’ll start early right after breakfast.

The trek begins with a steep and rocky climb, so we take it slow and steady. As we walk above Chukhung Valley, the altitude becomes more noticeable. We’ll pause for short breaks to rest and adjust, especially important at this elevation.

Along the way, we’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Pheriche Valley below and the surrounding snow-covered peaks. The path gets easier for a while with flatter sections that give our legs a bit of a break.

We’ll stop at a local teahouse for lunch and some warm drinks before tackling the final stretch. The last two hours are the toughest, with a sharp uphill climb over loose rocks and windy ridges.

After 6 to 7 hours of trekking, we arrive in Lobuche, a small, windy village with only a few lodges and shops. Though it’s smaller than Dingboche, it’s a key stop on the way to Everest Base Camp. We’ll stay in a teahouse here tonight and rest well.

Today is the highlight of your entire Mount Everest Base Camp trek, we finally reach the legendary EBC!

We begin with a challenging walk from Lobuche to Gorak Shep, the last settlement before Everest Base Camp. The trail is rough, dusty, and full of loose rocks and glacial debris. There’s no clear path, so we move carefully and take short breaks to catch our breath.

After about 2 hours, we reach Gorak Shep, which once served as the original base camp for early Everest expeditions. We’ll take a break here, have lunch, and prepare ourselves for the final stretch.

From Gorak Shep, it takes around 3 hours of trekking over rugged, icy trails to reach Everest Base Camp (5,364m). The path is tough but thrilling. You’ll walk alongside the mighty Khumbu Glacier, surrounded by jagged peaks and prayer flags fluttering in the wind.

Once we arrive, it’s time to celebrate, you made it to the base of the world’s tallest mountain, standing in the shadow of Mount Everest, Nuptse, and Khumbutse. The views and raw beauty of the Himalayas make all the effort completely worth it.

After soaking in the moment and taking photos, we trek back to Gorak Shep for the night.

Today starts early before dawn as we make a once-in-a-lifetime hike to Kala Patthar, the best viewpoint of Mount Everest. It takes about 2.5 to 3 hours of uphill walking in the cold morning air to reach the top, but the reward is beyond words.

From Kala Patthar (5,555m), you’ll witness the first rays of sunlight hitting the peak of Mount Everest, a magical moment that most trekkers call the highlight of the trip. You’ll also get close-up views of Everest, Nuptse, Changtse, and the Khumbu Glacier below. It’s the best and closest panoramic view of Everest you can get without climbing it.

After taking in the sunrise and capturing unforgettable photos, we hike back down to Gorak Shep for breakfast.

Later, we take a scenic helicopter or plane flight back to Kathmandu (weather-dependent). The aerial views are incredible, you’ll fly over snowy peaks, green valleys, and sparkling rivers.

Once we land in Kathmandu, we’ll transfer you back to your hotel. This marks the end of your unforgettable Mount Everest Base Camp adventure.
